Cultural & Heritage Tourism
The Cultural and Heritage Development Specialist assigned to the Western Office creates tourism products that stimulate economic development in communities of western North Carolina. These products focus on regional historical resources and cultural traditions that have national and even international audiences. Heritage tourism has developed into one of the fastest growing segments of the travel market and has become a major force behind economic development efforts for both rural and metropolitan areas across the state.
